The ethical perspective of a sustainable future will be explored during the Keynote of Saskia Sybrandi from Better Care Network.

In numerous countries there are insufficient structures to ensure children who lack parental care get the best possible help. Too often the solution is sought after institutional care, because the possibilities are limited. Better Care Network Netherlands tries to improve the situation of children without adequate parental care in development countries.

 

Better Care Network Netherlands does this through sharing knowledge and experiences - learned in a country or region - with others. This way they develop alternative models for care, improve the execution of those models, stimulate discussions, and improve policy and awareness around the topic.

Better Care Network gaat vanuit het perspectief van ethiek het thema van het congres: sustainable development: 'What should the future look like?' belichten. Vanuit Better Care network komt Saskia Sybrandi spreken.

 

In een groot aantal landen zijn er geen of onvoldoende structuren om ervoor te zorgen dat voor kinderen zonder adequate ouderlijke zorg de beste oplossing voor het kind gevonden wordt. Vaak wordt voor institutionele zorg gekozen omdat de keuzemogelijkheden voor andere vormen van zorg voor kinderen zonder beperkt zijn.

 

Better Care Network Netherlands wil door samenwerking de hulp aan kinderen zonder adequate ouderlijke zorg in ontwikkelingslanden

verbeteren. Dit doen ze door kennis, ervaringen en geleerde lessen – opgedaan in een land of regio – met elkaar en anderen te delen. Op die manier willen ze informatie over alternatieve zorgmodellen verder ontwikkelen, de toepassing ervan verbeteren, discussie stimuleren, beleid verbeteren en bewustwording rond het thema vergroten.
