During the congress, there will be various topics addressed, concerning development and the importance thereof for the future. Sustainable development is about sustaining the social and ecological environment upon which the economy and society depend.

 

We, as a society, strive for a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Not only researchers have the ability and knowledge to tackle the present problems. Companies, Scientists, organizations, and society all need to work together to create the path for a better future.

 

During the congress, we will, therefore, look at the topic from different perspectives. Lush, a company that makes fresh cosmetics, will show us how a company with sustainability goals looks like.

 

Better Care Network will shed light on the ethics of sustainability, and Wageningen student farm shows us how students can get involved with sustainable practices.

 

Next to that, there will be workshops that help students to become active and to learn how to make decisions regarding development.  Finally, there will be a debate, during which the opposing views about sustainability will be presented. After all, we hope that the participants of the congress gain a better understanding of the versatility of development and of course have lots of fun during the day!
